Established in 1998 by ex England fisherman Stuart Crofts, Pennine Guide Services offer a game fishing guide service for the rivers, streams and lakes across the UK with specialism in the Yorkshire and Derbyshire areas of England dedicated to the needs of visiting trout and grayling anglers from home or abroad.
Pennine Guide services offers a number of guide services to help you get the best from your fly fishing and welcomes anglers and fly fishers of all levels, from experienced and seasoned fishers wanting to learn more about a particular aspect of fishing a river to complete beginners wanting an introduction to fly fishing. All our services are adaptable to suit each individuals needs.
I am a Yorkshireman born & bred and specialised in fly-fishing for over 40 years. I have been a fly-fishing guide since 1998.
As well as a passionate “pleasure” fisherman I have also fished in many fly-fishing competitions and represented England on numerous occasions, including six World Fly Fishing Championships and six European Championships. In addition I was the very proud Captain of the gold medal winning England Rivers Home International Team in June 2000. I like to feel that I am proficient in all styles of river fly-fishing but especially fond of upstream dry-fly on small streams.
I take an active part in other field sports and I am a keen naturalist with a very special interest in river entomology (for obvious reasons!). I am a published photographer and written numerous articles on fly-fishing, entomology and river management. I regularly give lectures to clubs and societies on entomology and fishing related topics.
Along with fly-fishing I am passionate about entomology and the protection of our rivers and the English countryside; I am a member of the Salmon and Trout Association, Wild Trout Trust, Grayling Society, Anglers Trust, Countryside Alliance and the Fresh Water Biological Association.
